My modem finally got looked at last week or so. Just in time for hurricane season and unexpected power outtages. YAY! Apparently, unbeknownst (hey, I used the word unbeknownst. Go me *grin*) to me our cable was installed using a splitter in the attic and you can only split cable so much before it basically says 'Screw you!' So far, so good, fingers
