Solid Gold Hund-n-Flocken

Okay there is a small discussion going in redjenn93's journal about quality dog food. I have this marvelous food that I found several years ago that I feed Tucker (I didn't for awhile because I couldn't find it, but as soon as I found it, he's back on it). I was asked for more information about it so here it is ( Read more... )

Thanks for posting this. I'll look into it and where I can get it. Right now we feed our doggies Eukanuba and they do pretty well on it. Also less poop (our cousin is a vet and he told us about that and how it related to a dog's nutrition). We shop at Petsmart and get the food there, not sure if I've seen the Solid Gold there or not. Where do you buy it?

I finally found it at Petco. There is a store locator on the website. Eukanuba is pretty good and that's actually what I had the duck (and my other 2 dogs at the time) on, but my lab had HORRIBLE allergies and even on it all his hair was falling out and he had horrible horrible sores all over his body. I got him on the Hund-n-Flocken and within a month the sores were gone and his hair grew back. It was DRAMATIC.

I think there's a petco nearby. My terrier chews himself alot, we had to take him to the vet earlier this year for a hot spot above his tail. he doesn't have fleas, so i'm wondering if a food change would be good for him. thanks!!!

Might not hurt because that's what was going on with Jammer.

I love what a hippy you are deep inside. :) You have the best advice on things. I never ever fail to think of you when I see any honey jars.

Have I told you in the last month how much I love you? Probably not. But I do!

You always wanna judge a food by the first 5 ingredients. Solid Gold is a GREAT food. Definitely in my top 10. My only issue with it is that a few of the reps that came around to stores say it's not 100% complete without it's accompanying Seameal. It's a multi-vitamin powder in a canister. Personally I think it's ludacris to charge $40/bag for a seemingly fantastic food then stick in later oh you need this $20 canister else = /feeding cardboard... so I don't know how much truth there is to it.

Might be worth looking up. If you find anything, let me know?

Seameal contains 60 trace minerals, 12 vitamins, 22 amino acids, digestive enzymes, and flaxseed meal. It is excellent skin and coat problems. When Seameal is added to food, it increases the digestibility of the food. We recommend using Seameal with all our foods.

Protein, Min. 9%
Fat, Min. 10%
Fiber, Max. 13%
Moisture, Max. 12.2%

It's a supplement, but not necessary. When Jammer had his issues (and I mean it was HORRIBLE) I used it til the sores cleared up and his hair grew back, then didn't.

You haven't met the duck, but I kid you not, this dog is 7 years old and EVERYONE guesses him as 2 or 3 based on his looks, attitude and energy level...a lot of that is love, but a lot of it is good nutrition.

they have a whole line of supplements for various issues dogs have.
