I'm watching Death Note myself; I've got several volumes of the manga (half unread) I picked up in Japan a few summers ago and really dug the art. After my post Ep.60 Bleach burn-out (I swear I'll come back to you one day, Bleach!) I was really weirded out to hear Shonen Jump was running /another/ series about Shinigami, but it piqued my interest. I was also hearing all this hubbub about an anime soon to appear for it, so I grabbed the first volume and completely dug it. Needless to say, the anime is being beautifully executed. I'm not sure, but I think the manga has been finished at 12 volumes. The shorter, the sweeter says I! No goddamn filler episodes to keep us "entertained" while the ink on the next manga chapter is still drying.
I've been sniffing about for new stuff besides NANA since I blasted through Blood+ and Ergo Proxy, so I was *delighted* to see Death Note this had started airing.
Btw - what do you make of the opening and ending themes? Heehee. I downloaded them and I think they're utterly awful without the animation.

lol well it seems like every time I say I like any anime adapted from Manga, there's gotta be some douche that comes along droning on about what can be summed up as: "MangaOnry!".

Think of the disclaimer as a preemptive strike against that form of douchebaggery :D

Haha I find that most opening and ending themes are better with the animation :X

I also agree with your "The shorter, the sweeter" decloration.

If you care, another short and sweet show was "Innocent Venus". I know it sounds like your typical Hentai/Ecchi fair but it isnt. I dont think it's as good as Death Note, but it's still pretty solid.

Bleach: from 60-100, there was only 1 episode I really liked lol. The one in which Kenpachi get's to be the disgustingly powerful bastard that he is! <3 that guy.

I had been looking for a good new anime to get into, i usually watch anime or play videogames a couple hours a day so college work doesnt overload my brain. Death Note is a really interesting concept, i love how Light takes on a sense of divine justice which kinda makes him seem crazy. Overall the story is pretty interesting the the character designs are great. I can't wait to finish the story although i don't see it having an abundance of episodes.

I have no intention of watching the live action w/out subs though. I'd make me more frustrated than anything.

Dun wanna burst anyone's bubble about Death Note (which is awesome, btw), but it kinda starts sucking after a certain character dies around volume 5 ; ; It might have gotten some of itself back by 12, but I haven't been keeping up for a while. Haven't looked for the anime yet, but I will now :D

And as far as I remember, LiveEvil is a pretty old fansubbing group. They tend to pick up only a few anime, usually the odd themed ones :p
