Add "hte" to the English language as valid alternative spelling!

Bah. Avoid cancer of the English language!
(And, not that I'd want to be accused of a pedant or anything, but do bacteria? They split, but do they grow?)

Nah, Mr. Pedant's guess is wrong: unicellular organisms grow in mass by assimilation of nutrients, same as multicellular ones do. Splitting is splitting, growth is growth. Both happen to bacteria.

I prefer backed, because you only need to keep a pointer to the previous member in the list; and even if you do opt for the counting scheme, why not stay true to the zeroth base and say firsted? uh, I really should stick to lurking after caffeine-binges.

Seconded is only used for the first person who supports it, who gets the proposal on the table. Informally, everybody who supports a bill is a 'backer' (i.e, one who backs the bill).
