I've been sick with a cold the last week or so, and it's turned into a persistent, hacking cough. I started to turn a corner yesterday, but the cough's still pretty bad. It's been keeping both me and my parents awake at night, so they, er, strongly encouraged me to see the doctor and now I'm on special cough syrup and an inhaler. I have to admit, ( Read more... )

My aunt Rhonda (the one with Down Syndrome) had frequent angina and used to occasionally fake attacks so the ambulance would come for her. She didn't want to go to the hospital-- she just wanted to look at the paramedic, who was also a "Sunshine Boy" (a male model who was in the pull-out of the Toronto Sun newspaper).

They had to do something drastic to make her stop-- I think it was forcing her to go to the hospital every time they were called. But they couldn't *not* call when she turned blue and started grabbing her chest.

Oh, dear. Well, I can't say I blame her. ;)

Long comment will be long. ;)

I'm going to be looking forward to your posts, hearing your thoughts, sharing your life. I love the idea of NanoJouMo, and am considering doing it myself, even though I didn't post yesterday.

Mad Science sounds like a wonderful opportunity. Let me get back to you on that name, though. I'm not good at picking things like that. ;)

Hope you're feeling better soon. If you don't improve, please get checked out for bronchitis/pneumonia. I'm not trying to be a nervous Nellie here, but last year in the late winter/early spring, I had a bout that lasted for a month, and could have been worse if I hadn't attended to it promptly.

I hope your Mom is fine; and I'm glad you "encouraged" her to get checked out. So many of us women don't want to "bother" anyone. *am guilty of this*

No kid ever suffered permanent damage from the occasional bout of too much tv. ;)

Love that quote!

I'm done now. ;)

Thanks for the detailed reply! I look forward to reading your posts, too.

When I saw the doctor on Tuesday she listened to my lungs and said it didn't sound like bronchitis or pneumonia--just an over-active cough in response to a cold. But I will keep an eye on it, JIC.

Good news on the job! That sounds like fun. :) I think you will enjoy it. I voted for three different names. I voted for two of the ones you suggested but also have a couple of my own suggestions. I'm not sure if they have to be overtly science related, but I like "Jingling Joie," especially because it incorporates your musical talent as well. You could really play that one up as well with some bells in your pocket or something. I was also fond of "Jawbreaker Joie," but I'm not sure that's the image you're going for. ;)

My mom had chest pain that took us to the ER a couple of years ago, so I know how scary that is! She had it for like 12 hours before she did anything about it, and I wanted to hit her for waiting so long (especially when she WORKS at a hospital)! I'm glad to hear they weren't too worried about your mom's chest pain. Hopefully it was just related to the stress of the day and the past few months. (I mean, you guys have had a pretty stressful last few months.) Please give her my regards ( ... )

I understand that it's hard to update when you're busy with school, not to mention major life changes like getting married. ;) But anytime you can spare a moment for 500 words (or more!), I, for one, will happily read it. :)

Oh, and I decided to go with "Jingle Joie" based on your suggestion. Thanks!

Haha! I can totally picture the three of you doing that!

Hope you feel better soon!
