baekhyun/chanyeol, pg, 543 words
anniversaries for dummies
chanyeol decides to be normal this year.
it's surprising, but chanyeol is actually one of those boyfriends who remembers anniversaries. he has had march 15th marked on his calendar for the past three years and (hopefully) counting. except, his plans never go the way they're supposed to. last year he had thrown a surprise party and even brought a goat! but the goat ate the cake and half of joonmyun's (really ugly oh thank god it's gone now) sweater. the year before that chanyeol had hired a famous clown named kris or kevin or something like that to make those cute animal balloons for everyone. too bad he didn't know that baekhyun has had a fear of clowns since he was seven.
chanyeol might remember anniversary dates, but when it comes for the actual planning for the anniversary, he's dead weight. on every march 14th, he would run to minseok's house and wail about how his anniversary is tomorrow and he hasn't gotten any shit done.
"be a normal boyfriend and just get him flowers and i don't know like a cake or something," minseok replies with the usual answer.
being normal is boring, but this year chanyeol has had enough. he buys a personalized chocolate cake from the local grocery and a pretty bouquet of red roses from luhan's flower shop. march 15th creeps up in a couple of hours, and boy is chanyeol prepared. at exactly at midnight, he stands patiently in front of baekhyun's door with the cake and flowers behind his hand.
chanyeol doesn't know when, but at some time during the night the upstairs lights of baekhyun's house flickers on. he hears footsteps approaching the door and out of panic, he dives into the rose bush. baekhyun opens the door in confusion. he mutters gibberish and then closes it, but not all the way.
still in pain from the roses, chanyeol limps towards the door while he pulls out more thorns. instead of closing it, he accidentally falls into the house and a girly shriek goes off as every light in the house flashes on. chanyeol isn't really sure what's happening next, but he's pretty sure baekhyun's kicking and swearing at him. he clings onto his bundle of roses as baekhyun kicks him again in the ass. he attempts to crawl back outside but baekhyun flings himself on top of his back.
"you're not going anywhere before the police get here!" he screams.
"b-but i have cake!" chanyeol chokes out as baekhyun proceeds to give him a wedgie. he tries to hold out the roses, but the remaining petals look brutally destroyed.
the police arrive and chanyeol swears he hears baekhyun say, "wait a minute."
"you didn't have to wait starting from midnight," baekhyun tells him while they return home from jail.
"why didn't anyone tell me?" chanyeol groans.
instead of taking the blame for being the one who pretty much sent chanyeol into hell for three hours, minseok laughs at him. baekhyun laughs too, but baekhyun is baekhyun which means he's sweet and caring and perfect and beautiful while minseok is not.
chanyeol flushes. "stop laughing," he mutters.
baekhyun laughs again and punches him playfully. "oh god chanyeol. you are so dumb."
he places his slender hands on chanyeol's heart, eyes sparkling.
"just spending my entire day with you is more than enough."
