I think I was 9 or 10. We were on vacation, and a friend of my uncle took hunting seriously. We pestered him to let us fire his rifle, and I got to do it as the eldest one. Looking back, letting a 10-year old fire a hunting rifle might not have been the most responsible things to do. Thankfully, my parents never found out.

Actually, I'd say eight is about the right time to start teaching kids about guns. The earlier they learn, the less likely they are to do something stupid or dangerous with them.
