I'm a sucker for '70's music. Don't know, don't ask. Back in the days of my misspent youth, I'd listen to the Bee-Gee's. Stayin' Alive more precisely. Ah, that cheesy disco riff at the beginning. Yeah, Steely Dan is the shite, alright! Actually, I'm pretty sure DK would have been humming one of their songs all throughout the time you guys did your project! He's the one who introduced me to them, I think he was playing a Steely Dan song with that IISc band of his - a song called West of Hollywood. Funky shite :)

As for Steely Dan reccos, I'd suggest either Pretzel Logic, or Royal Scam as a good starting point. Katy Lied too, perhaps. All these have the classic Dan sound.

I started off listening to their first album, Can't Buy a Thrill, and I still like it quite a bit - though it's probably a little raw. The song I mentioned above, West of Hollywood, is from a newer album, called Two Against Nature. Very different Dan, but brilliant. Gah, I've got that song stuck in my head again. Damn you, DK!
