LJ question

How are you all getting notified when someone comments after you or replies to your comment?  Is email the only way to get notified?  I don't want a new email for every single comment reply, but I still want to know about them.  Thanks.

I keep an email account primarily for comment notifications and only check it when I want to see if anyone commented. (That is, every time I check my normal gmail I check my yahoo comment mailbox too... but I guess I'm slightly obsessed!) There's also a way, I'm pretty sure, to have comment notifications sent to your LJ inbox (http://www.livejournal.com/inbox/) and not to your email, but I've never set that up.

Thanks, this will probably work best for me too. (But I'll just be checking it at lunch/evenings.) I wish LJ had a facebook-type notification system.

I get the e-mails. (If you're following a conversation on someone else's journal, you can also click "track this" and get an e-mail for every response to that posting whether it's a response to you or not.) But I manage them by having my e-mail program auto-direct them into a dedicated folder. That way I can scan through them all quickly without interrupting my regular e-mail reading.

On gmail (and probably on other mail services), you can create a filter which takes all those 1 comment emails and archives them in a folder, instead of leaving them in your inbox.
