I just saw the finale again. Nicole (and Alex) for all the awards!!! When she's at the top of her game, no one can touch Nicole Kidman, not even her co-star Reese Witherspoon. Also, Laura Dern deserves awards for rising above the thankless role of Renata and making her pop.
The climax is just so fucking brutal and powerful. In an interview, Alex Skarsgard compares it to a nature documentary where like lionesses take down an elephant. I also like what Jean Marc Valle said about why he interspersed shots of the waves with it: not only does it push the savagery of the scene, he also makes an allusion to the five women being like an unrelenting ocean who can erode rocks.
If you haven't watched this, run to HBO and watch it.
