I do see his point. Unfortunately, in real life, it is common in those situations for a man to be beaten to a pulp and to have his life threatened and for a woman to be raped and beaten. Of course, I don't know people in this situation and am basing this off of movies/tv so maybe that is stereotyping as well. But it seems like that is just the way it is. In a capture situation, how many of the captors are straight men and how many are women/gay men. It is more likely that they will be straight men and will react accordingly.
But I still see your point that in writing a person has the choice to have raping of men and women or no raping at all.
My only issue with rape in comics is that its never turns into an open dialogue about rape. It either becomes a character building moment or a plot device. Rarely does it ever turn into a discussion of the issue, probably because most male writers have no idea how to probably discuss what it feels like to be raped. Kirkman's first reply was idiotic, however this one is a little bit more redeeming, even if he still sounds like an idiot in the way he presents himself
( ... )
I completely see your point as well. I didn't know it wasn't discussed and just used as a weapon as you mentioned. I don't read comics so I guess I don't really have a reason to be thowing my opinion in at all. :-)
