I just stumbled on your journal looking for users who had tags like bipolar and hypomania as their interest.
It sounds to me like you have lots of reasons to feel good about yourself. I know, having the reasons and being able to do so are not the same. Just wanted to mention it.
And about having the the wrong reasons for wanting to loose weight. Well, don't think people genrally have only one reason and one reason only for things like that. Health and self image improvement are both valid reasons I think (though I agree that the self image thing should overshadow the other reasons and yes it is heavily influenced by society and family and that sucks. But if you are aware and can cope with it you are the winner. (I mean, if you can manage to use it to your advantage).

Uh, sorry for taking a year to respond. Now I believe I have reasons to feel good about myself, yet I still don't. I'm about 15 pound away from a healthy weight yet I still feel as fat as I ever did. The scale, measuring tape, and fat pants tell me otherwise, and so do other people, but I don't see it in myself.

I'm not sure what my reason is for losing weight anymore. I'll still think I'm fat no matter what unless my underlying issues change.
