Eight hours after their last rendezvous found Christine back on shift and in the gym, biting her lip to keep from calling a stop to the Captain's current favourite sort of punishment. Jack's training today. He trains every day that he's not on shift but he's more preoccupied that usual and he believes that the woman on the opposite side of the room is to blame. He can't help looking at her every so often, wondering about the night before.

Eventually, a stumbling ensign provides opportunity for Christine to move out of the way, past the watching Captain and doctor who's coassigned to take care of today's mess with her. Close enough to be within a quiet whisper's distance of O'Neill. Should he choose to make that quiet whisper, of course.

Jack contemplated whispering something, but what would he say? He'd given her pain, pleasure and worst of all, emotion. And you couldn't do that on this ship. He shook his head slightly, deciding the best idea would be to stay clear of her.

Catching that, she feels her heart tighten. But she was a valued and dedicated member of the Empire and of this ship first, a woman second, so she's been told. Her heart isn't allowed to be concerned with anything but circulating blood through her body.

When the display is over, just before she has to step forward to begin her healing process, she turns to him, as if they'd been conversing the whole time. "Mister O'Neill," she says, giving a nod, a goodbye before she walks away.
