Spell check please?

Every now and then I get one of my coworkers asking me for advice on English grammar or spelling.  Everyone here knows I have a degree in English (I think the part where the emphasis was Creative Writing got lost somewhere in the rumor mill), and, comparatively speaking, I'm the in-house expert.  I don't really mind this sort of thing -- it gives ( Read more... )

Yeah, from what I understand both "hock" and "hawk" can be correct, although "hock is used most frequently in slang spelling whereas "hawk" has been argued to be more correct due to etymology. (http://www.wordorigins.org/index.php/site/comments/hawk_a_loogie/) But, yeah, hork works much better. Let's switch.

What feyandstrange said. I knew "hawk" didn't look quite right, but I couldn't put my finger on it, or figure out what was better. :)
