I would have bought paper plates and refused to do the washing up because it was them who had made it dirty and not you so it's not your job (especially as you didn't benefit from eating the meal to justif helping with the washing up) also I would make a point about how they ate your food. That's not on either. I think this could be war! =p
Perhaps buy your own plate/bowl/cutlery etc and keep them in your room. Do your own stuff, keep it clean and out of the way. If there stuff is in the way move it whilst you do your own stuff. keeping a house clean isn't about I do this and you do that it's about tidying up after yourself as you go along. & it sounds like they were taking advantage of the fact that you would do all their washing up (which you did eventually). If you don't want to buy some stuff of your own, only wash up what you will need.
