Fact A-01: Arrival

 [I. Action | 1248 Williams Road | Housemates only | Early Morning]
[Welp. Waking up in the morning, as per normal. But as soon as our historian opens her eyes... they'll widen to their absolute maximum.

This wasn't her house, and nothing about the room she's in looked anything like she had seen within the Human Village...

she'll adjust, with the ( Read more... )

[The piercing shriek is enough to wake Satori, and she assumes that there's probably a new arrival in the house. That's the only real reason for anyone to be screaming. It's not Koishi's voice, after all.

So she trudges up to her not!parents' bedroom and peers inside.

Yyyyep. Just as she suspected.

As much as she'd like to ignore the newcomer, it would probably be in bad taste to do so, and she wants to make her life in Mayfield as easy as possible, so...]

I take it you need an explanation.

[Going to take a moment before she looks over at the door, because she'll have to take a while to calm herself down before that.]

Y-Yes, please...

[Something about this person... She seems almost familiar. That eye on her chest especially... It reminds her of someone she knows of, but hasn't really met yet...]

[Satori begins to rattle the following facts off in a deadpan voice:]

You've been kidnapped. There's no way out, so don't bother looking for the exit. Your powers and possessions, if you had any, are gone, but you'll get them back eventually. Including your clothes, so don't be too alarmed. But you can get them back.

Usually, something horrible will happen in the town and then a few days after it's done everyone will receive an item of theirs in the mail. I'd give examples but frankly, you'll know when you see it.

...Alternatively, you can go to the post office and ask for your items back, but the toll is high. I lost an arm to the post office a while back in exchange for something, but...received my arm again in the mail several months later.

Oh, and when you die - I'd say 'if' but I'd be leading you on - don't worry too much, you'll be alive again the next day.

It's a terrible place, but you might as well get used to it.

[upon mention of clothes, she'll quickly look down, lifting up the blanket she had wrapped around herself upon realizing she's laying beside a man, to make sure that she's at least wearing something, whether or not it's her own clothes...]

I... I see... [this is just so much to take in...]

...Yes, I know it can be a lot to take in, but one becomes accustomed to it. Though becoming accustomed to it isn't necessarily something to hope for, either, because it means you'll have been here for longer than necessary.

Oh - one more thing, and this might be the most important. I understand if you don't want to stick around a house with me, but you have to come back every three days, or else you'll be droned. That is to say, they erase your mind. It's a pretty standard punishment here. But it's temporary...usually.

[Did... she just read my mind?... But the only few I know of that can read minds, and that eye... This must be... the Mistress of the Earth Spirit Palace?]

I don't mind staying, but... they erase our minds? [what is this complete disregard for people's free will?!]

I see, so you've heard of me.

...Then you would know that I am an expert on the hearts and minds of others, and I know what I'm talking about when I say they erase our minds. For some reason, I can't read the minds of those that have been droned at all. Not a whisper of a thought gets by. I can only imagine it's because they've taken those whispers and made them disappear.

['those who are droned become thoughtless... and soulless, possibly? This is quite a predicament to end up in...' Her thoughts clear to hear, but meanwhile she'll think about the bigger picture - this entire place.]

Seeing as you're in the same house as I am... Are there many others from Gensokyo here?

Yes, there are. My sister Koishi is in Mayfield, as well. If you so much as hurt a hair on her head, I'll be forced to react unpleasantly, so do yourself a favor and be nice. Even if she's a satori, you can manage something like that, can't you? The same goes for my pet raven, Utsuho - she lives under this very roof.

I don't know very many people from the surface, but I know there are several others from Gensokyo here in addition to my family. If you want to know who they are, seek them out for yourself.

[Blunt Satori is blunt.]

[Tilting her head a little here. 'The satori who can read people's subconsciousness, and the hell raven with nuclear powers? Why would I ever want to hurt them at all?...']

Mm... Alright. Thanks. [She'll give a little smile here.]

[She knows of enough tales of the Earth Spirit Palace Mistress's aloofness, but she hadn't ever expected them to be just as they are, instead of mere exaggerations...]

If you know about satori then you should understand why people would want to hurt us. Why people have heard us. Generally, we aren't wanted - we're feared for our power.

But I've told this story too many times, and I'm sure you know how it goes anyway. As long as you don't hurt my sister or my pet, we'll get along fine. I won't bother you as long as you don't bother me.

[Her aloof nature truly is extreme, isn't it? Though Mayfield has cracked the walls around her heart, Satori is still very wary of strangers, especially those she has to live with.]

[And to be entirely honest... Keine would only hurt those that would seek to hurt that which is close to her, as well -- but being here, the only one that fits the bill would be - eventually, of course, since she hasn't found out about her at this point yet - just Mokou. By this note, she'll feel that Satori is similar to herself in this aspect: that both of them only want to protect those who are dear to themselves.]

I understand. But if we're going to live together, we might as well get along, no? [her friendly, brilliant smile~]

Yes, it'll probably be easier for the both of us if we can get along. Who knows how long we'll be stuck like this, after all...I was sent home very briefly, but I've been here for more than a year.

More than a year... How troubling... ['we might just be stuck here for good then...']

We may be stuck here for good, and we may not. It's never a good idea to make assumptions in a place like this.

And what of Gensokyo? What will happen without us being there?
