One for all the perfectionists on my flist - how do you gauge and reward yourself for success?

The approbation of my peers, obviously.

Oh, perfectionists, sorry, I thought you said vivisectionists.

If I've learnt a lesson from it, it was a success. Of course it's desirable to acheive what it was you wanted in the first place.
Generally don't reward myself. Maybe a nice meal or something.

You need to define success beforehand, or else just about anything can be claimed as a sucess (or a fialure, if that's the way you think).

It's cliché, but are your objectives SMART?

What a strange concept. As long as I'm thinking about it, it's never good enough. If it is good enough momentarily, that state needs to be maintainable. If the state of being good enough is maintainable, it is a trivial problem. Therefore I can only succeed in amusing myself, which is its own reward so long as the task is sufficiently involving/distracting.
