Ich bin angekommen

Well, I made it to Japan. Somehow. I'm absolutely exhausted, and somewhat ill (bloody jetlag), and looking forward to getting to know my fellow program participants. They're putting us up in a hotel for two nights before sending us off to our dorms/homestays. So right now I'm sitting typing on my laptop in a single-occupancy dorm that is maybe ( Read more... )

I hope I'm not the only person who finds it delightfully amusing that you prefaced an entry about Japan with a title written in German. Just for the record.

Yeah, I know. A bit of intentional silliness on my part.

Hey, Ben! i know this is completely unrelated, and i know it's likely the last thing you have on your mind right now, but have you started thinking about where you want to live next year? I have a lead on a pretty nice house on Snelling and Jefferson, and I'd really like to know the people I'm living with, instead of people I don't really know...it would be about 450 a month, including utilities...2 car garage, some new appliances, common rooms furninshed...I just messaged Carly, too, about it...i think it would be cool! Let me know if you're intrigued...there's room for 4 people...unless you're living with Megan or on campus or something...je ne sais pas.
Glad you got to Tokyo safe and sound!! Get some sleep, man! :hug!::

Well, actually it's not the last thing I have on my mind. I've been thinking about housing for awhile. Unfortunately, I've sort of already arranged with Carly, Corey, and Megan for the four of us to find a house, along with a friend of Corey's and mine from choir. There's some question about what size of house we'll be able to find, so we might have an extra bedroom if you're still interested in living with that many other people.

how about, like, a 9 hour difference? yes, that sounds better. 8pm -> 5am =9hrs.

But that goes across the date line. So it may be easier to calculate like that but just remember that it's also possible a different day (unless that calculation goes across midnight).

Yar. 15 hours or 9 hours, just two directions/two ways of thinking about it.

I think the time difference might have just changed...did the us go off daylight savings time? i think it's 7 hours later the previous day on the west coast, which would make it 9 hours later the previous day in MN.
