Well that monster was no match for Rafa and her fam! I hope her relationship with her dad gets better though. No wonder she ends up making bad boy decisions as a young teen. Also, poor Mr. Willikins! Good that he was outspoken while he lasted I suppose.

Mr. Willikins was the hero we deserved.

Adorable! You are really rounding this character out! (That is NOT a pun!)

This was classic and lol-worthy - “I was going to kill you before I cooked you,” it told her, “but not anymore. I'm going to eat you alive! You hear me?”

Yeah, I've really become fascinated with this character. I have her life mapped out to forty, and it's been fun to drop in at random points to see what's up.

It was wonderful to see Rafaela as a little child, with all that spunk and courage. Simply read by itself, this was a fun story!

I don't know where the spunk and courage come from, but it seems to be a real through line in her life.

Oh, this is delightful! I love the twisty nature on a classic "there's a monster in my closet" fear. I am so enamored with this brave little girl. She would be good friends with Terry Pratchett's witch, Tiffany Achings, I suspect.

If I could write a character as good as Tiffany Aching, I'd retire.
