The midwest high speed rail that makes infinite sense to me is Cleveland to Columbus. Cleveland to Chicago (and Chicago to Detroit, and Chicago to Indy) also make sense. But bazillions of people commute around that Cleveland/Columbus corridor, and it's stupid that there's not a train.
Republicans hate trains because trains are socialist. I am being a bit sarcastic, but am also being a little serious.
Also, CPH and I are coming to Cleveland to visit Case and see if we're moving there during the first weekend in April. If you are in town, we should share a meal.
I think the train makes significant sense in Ohio and would certainly take it myself. I still worry that people are so wedded to their cars that it would be a deterrent once they reach their intra-Ohio destination, but if it were truly high speed rail, I think it certainly would work.
The Republican hatred of trains I always thought had more to with fossil fuels and that they're more efficient in their use (and you must keep the oil companies, Alaskans, and Texans happy.)

We'll be in town April 3-6. I think Sunday is relatively free, we're going to spend some of the day looking at houses.
