 Has anyone been to Braehead recently? I used to pass it on the bus to work. As well as the shopping centre they are also building housing, an industrial estate and a giant old folks home. Then there's XScape for the times when you fancy some bob-sleighing. It reminds me of the town in 'Edward Scissorhands' where everything is uniformly laid out ( Read more... )

The all-encompassing power of the Mall is something I think about a lot, especially when combined with the 'newbuild housing estate just off a motorway junction'. What kind of a weird life would that lead to?

It's kind of like a commercial version of those communities in America that shut themselves off from the world, except everything is being provided from the outside.

If I had to live in Braehead forever I would probably end up doing a lot of artificial rock climbing and eating lots of Ikea dinners.
