do you have a dental hospital anywhere within reach? they do free treatment if a student does the work (supervised of course!) my mum has been there (liverpool is ours) because she has a phobia of dentists, and they use the knock-out gas over there. friend's mum also been for root-canal type stuff due to cost otherwise.

Right, thanks for the tip. Being close to London you'd think there would be one. Do you have to ask specifically do you know?

Is there no other NHS place you can go to? I'm sure there must be something you can claim back as you're a student!

I am actually looking into this possibility at the moment. :) In theory I should be able to claim this stuff back. But if the NHS dentist can't cope with a root canal that doesn't really solve that problem ... Argh.
