They're giant robots that require human pilots to control them.

They're vehicles, then. I assume the Legend and Destiny were military models?

Yes, that's right. I mean, I guess. I don't know much about the machines, but the Chairman had a lot to say about them. There's... a war going on, so, I imagine the Chairman thinks that such machines would be able to bring about a swift end to the fighting.

Why, yes, I am! It took a while to remember it, but I definitely knew Athrun back home, too.
