In the first in what will hopefully become a series, I will introduce you to little pretends which make my life more interesting.

Today: phone calls.

When a person of foreign persuasion picks up the phone and speaks in a different language, I play-pretend that I know what they are saying.  This manifests itself in several ways:

I quite like this. Too many people get paranoid when they overhear foreign languages. "Oh my god! The strange Slavs in the elevator kept laughing......at me?!!!?" It's nice that you can approach these situations in a fashion that is both more and less mature than others.
