For the record.

I cannot stand talking and listening to other people about art, their idea of art, or what art means to them. It causes me to sweat, my stomach to turn, and loss of voluntary control of my facial muscles. Thus, I often end up looking at people strangely, my face etched in confusion laced with disgust, when they talk for what seem like ceaseless ( Read more... )

Haha! You would have loathed my art professor this semester as I did. This rather describes the Creative Writers at Hollins. Good thing you're not in Young Curators anymore!

I think YC was what killed it for me, just like Catholic school killed the tiny amount of what was left of my religious beliefs. I was held in disbelief at the words coming out of their mouths, as if a bunch of spoiled high schoolers knew anything about ~*~ART~*~. They were/are so certain in their superiority, it made/makes me sick.

Shudder. Creative Writing.

Damn you, rational mind! DAMN YOU.

They say Catholicism is the quickest route to atheism!!!
Yeah, and it was a BEAT GENERATION (LITERATURE!) CLASS. A select group of girls were hating on William Burroughs' writing. I couldn't believe it, but it was exactly the same thing as you described. I have to admit I'm a little hesitant now to take any of the creative writing courses because I know there's a lot of peer critiques and poem-swapping and what not. It's not that it's intimidating as much as it is worthy of eye-rolling. I know I'm an elitist sometimes too, but geez, I try not to show it.

Haha, Suzanne told me she got 0% rationality on one of those personality tests for school. I LOVE IT!

WUT. Hating on Burroughs in a Beat Generation Class?! WHAT. Does... not... compute... Did they think he was misogynistic or something?

In agreement about the eye-rolling.

Oh, I'm not surprised. At all. But definitely amused!

So LiveJournal didn't like my weird emoticons. I don't feel like fixing it, though I probably will at a later date, to soothe my need for everything to look uniform.

Okay, so I already fixed that bad boy. I couldn't look at it anymore. The spatial OCD must be obeyed.
