On religious tolerance

Main:I'm sick and fucking tired of religious people. Period. I could clarify that to a particular behavior religious people are prone to, but fuck it; why bitch about the symptom, right? Also, anyone that says "I'm not religious, but I am spiritual," well fuck you, too, you're still part of the goddamn problem. And while we're on the ( Read more... )

I'm plagiarizing who?

It's not original thought. Reasonable, civilized people have all thought these things and the world would be in far sadder shape than it is now if I were the first reasonable, civilized person.

And Now, With One Less Spelling Error! wifflebatgaijin July 2 2008, 03:06:47 UTC
We are not commanded by the Holy Goddess Eris to proselytize to anyone. By reading this Goomblog, and subsequent discussions about the aforementioned Goomblog, you've accepted that CoG may creep across your computer screen at some point.

Now, that being said, we do invite you to peruse and discuss the beliefs and structures of CoG with any of our fine representatives. Such as myself.

Also, I have some land in Alaska I would like to sell you, plus I am Nigerian royalty.

Maybe there would be more activity if people were to prod us.

Kyle knows, we are big fans of prodding.

i'd have to say my favorite and most experienced point of many in all this, is that the OVERWHELMING majority of all christians know almost nothing about their religion. This goes beyond throwing out logic and reason for a false sense of safety. How can anyone seriously profess faith, to the point that they would die for it, in something that they know next to nothing about?

Tis extremely aggravating.

I was forced to go to church by my parents until after confirmation (protestant catechism, basically) and I would almost always end up arguing with the pastor about something he said during the service. Once, he, the minister, the supposed leader and theology expert of the whole church, referred to Jesus as "the Morning Star" and would simply not listen to me when I tried explaining that that was a title reserved for Lucifer (apparently, no one else in the church caught it or knew enough to catch it).
