The weather, the produce, the gum trees, the Asian presence and cultural influence, the proximity to the sea, plus the odd South Australian, like our friend sambushell.

dmw had some quite useful talks with vgqn about cultivating fruits and vegetables in our kind of climate.

The US for me is all about the food. A lot of it, I wouldn't want to live on, but I'm only ever there for short periods and it's okay for a treat once in a while.

After the airport, I went to see vgqn to drop off her wine shipment. We tasted the Bonny Doon viognier. It was on the sweet side but had some acid and lots of flavor. The 2003 Old Vines Red from Santa Cruz Mountain Winery was very tasty. Would have gone well with your Donnelly chocolate covered cherry, if I'd remembered I had it. (Sorry!)
