Eating the world

Today I finished the second week of my 9-week couch-to-5K run. This week's running was structured as below:

5 minute warm up walk
  • 90 second run
  • 2 minute walk
  • Repeat for a total of 6 runs and 5 walks, and after the last run...

5 minute warm down walk

This week, as with last week's runs, I did my first two runs along flat track. There just happens to be ( Read more... )

Congratulations.

I've managed to lose a little at the moment. A combination of walking more regularly and being more careful with what I eat.

G and I were talking about walking last night. I get the desire to walk, regardless. I don't mind where I walk to, I just need to walk. I think a childhood filled with weekend walking probably entrained me to need that activity.

G on the other hand, finds that he needs to have somewhere to walk to -- a movie theatre, an appointment, a shop.

How about you?

I like a destiantion, but I also like walking for pleasure. My main problem is getting started. There's always another book to read, or glass to make, which is my way of saying I'm a lazy bitch. Also, back and hip pain can make it harder to move. I'm walking around the hospital block at work almost every lunchtime(that's a k), and when I dont have to be somewhere (like a meeting, then I do an extra block(that's another k yay for pedometers). I also have two walking companions now, and that helps, because you know they are waiting, and you can't disappoint them. Iain and I are also doing more walking before dinner at night.

RAWR! So much fun.

I get the feeling you have a whole heap of natural running talent that I lack. :-)

Another thing that's really nice for fatigued legs is nice massage. I don't know how much it de-fatigues them, but the massage feels even better than normal.

If i have natural running talent, nobody will be more shocked than me. I have stumpy little chubby legs that definitely don't fit a runners ideal!

I'm not very good with massage, and I don't have a bath ... will have to find a solution for the aches, if/when I get them seriously.
