I totally agree with you. I also hate the way that the items marked down or on special promotions with free gifts and stuff are invariably the poor quality, overly processed foods. So it encourages people to buy them because it's such a good deal, when really you're doing your health no favours. I love my farmer's market too, and I also put in one or two orders with Aussie Farmer's Direct every week

Even though I have been sick for a couple of weeks (the reason I was in the supermarket in the first place), I just couldn't bring myself to buy chicken that wasn't free-range, or purchase any large multinational's products. Heh. Supermarket Anarchist!
Great to hear someone else does it! My parents even think it's a bit quaint considering the convenience of buying stock at a shop, but I think once you make your own you'd never go back. Have you tried Aussie Farmer's Direct? They're so good when you're sick and you just don't feel like going out! And I've been so impressed with the quality. We're buying very little from the big three these days.
