I'm grounded, dammit.

Apparently my father isn't amused by my going out in the middle of the night. But it's perfectly okay for HIM to do it?! I take care of him like he's a fucking child but then when I act like one I get in trouble. ARGH!!

Oh my Goddess, you met Jocelin? I know him very well, he's a friend of mine. You do know what he does for a living though, right?

I'm sorry to hear you're grounded, sweetie. Dietrich probably doesn't understand that you worry about him just as much as he worries about you. Parents can be pretty thick sometimes.

Okay. I just wouldn't want you not to have known. I'm glad he was nice to you. He's made a few mistakes that haven't endeared him to people. Most of my friends don't like him. He's good to those he cares about, though. I hope he does care about you. Did you talk much?

He didn't say much, but everything he did say was really gentlemanly. He walked me home! I'm not looking for a thing. But it was nice to be treated like that.

I can hardly talk about sneaking out and getting into mischief. But be careful, okay? I know you're a smart girl, but I have to say anyway, don't always take charm at face value.

I suppose Dietrich wants - needs - someone to take care of him. He's probably afraid that if you're acting like a child, as you say, then you're not doing that. Taking care of him. Not that that's fair. But that's probably where his mind is.

He is a very strange man. I feel sorry for him for everything he's going through, but he shouldn't put all his burdens onto you. You're not supposed to be dealing with that stuff yet. Of course he should be able to turn to you for love, but... there's only so much he can reasonably expect.
