[Johannes doesn't sound happy today. So what else is new?]

What a lovely idea, Horst, just glänzend.  Are there any other strays that you'd like to invite into my home while you're at it?

Es ist nicht diese Art von Kirche.

... yes.

Do you speak it?

No sir, I only know French and basic Latin. I don't start German until I'm ten.

Still, that is quite good for your age then, if you have not yet turned ten.

[It's a little eerie that he's being somewhat nice to her, but she is a little girl, and Johannes isn't a complete monster.]

Look at you, making friends by the dozen.

I am not making friends. [He hisses the word out like some kind of curse word.]

Trying to prevent my house from being overrun.

This is not a homeless shelter, nor is it a pound.

They are a good deal more useful than the living, in any case.

Must you make a big deal over every little thing? Two men and an occasional girl do not a shelter make. Think how long it took you to notice!

[And then he turns very serious]

They're staying. It's Merlin and Prince Arthur, for God's sake.

[And sorry, baby brother, even you don't get to mess with Merlin.]

And that little fact is supposed to make me want to let them intrude upon my privacy, is it?

Oh yes they're so intrusive, sleeping all night and being out of the house all day.

It has less to do with their sleeping habits and more to do with the veritable lightning storm that follows that boy around.

And the trouble he is likely to attract because of it.

[Oh, Tom is not happy.

Tom is not happy.

Someone has interfered, and not just in an annoying way, but an extraordinarily dangerous way. And, given from this message, it is quite obvious who, exactly, took Merlin away from Howl's Moving Castle.

The damnable vampire --

Tom is sitting in an armchair, his fingers steepled, pressed against his lips. He looks perfectly calm and relaxed, but his eyes are hard as diamonds.]

How rude of your brother.

Do you think so?

[Johannes does, of course, he was after all the first to complain. But it's a little bit of "only I'm allowed to insult my brother" and a lot of "I just don't trust you" that's dictating his word choice right now.]

It is your house, isn't it?

[Tom is at the special level of fury where he nearly doesn't care whether or not people trust him -- but he plays his cards carefully and chooses his words even more wisely.

He will deal with Horst Cabal later.]

In a manner of speaking, yes.

[To be fair, Johannes doesn't trust anyone. But there's just something about Tom that prickles, even if Johannes doesn't know quite what it is yet.]
