I second this idea.

Police and temporary relocation sound like a fabulous plan.

As said above, contact going to the police. Also consider a restraining order.

My only qualm with restraining orders is that it won't keep him away, it'll just punish him if he doesn't stay away.

That's bullshit. If the guy is acually a threat he can't be allowed to continue to threaten her.

Having a restraining order means that if she even sees him she can call the cops instantly rather than wait for him to make a move. So if she goes to a bar and finds him there staring at her, she doesn't have to be afraid he'll attack her while she's leaving the bar, she can call the police and they'll deal with him.

That makes a huge difference.

Yes and you just agreed with my point:

It doesn't prevent it from occurring.

It punishes it if it does occur.

I can elucidate the point further however, I imagine
I-feel-sick has enough on her plate. The
restraining order is not a bad idea, I just have issues with them.

Get the fuck out of the area. After contacting the police and filing a restraining order. Don't wait for some crazy shit to happen...don't *LET* it happen.

Damn girl now I'm all worried.
