So my mom now thinks it's my duty as an American citizen to vote for contestants on American Idol. Seriously. We're watching the results show and she's all, "See? That's why you have to vote!" Yeah, like the whole fate of the country really rests on whether or not I dial a phone number. For a reality television show

i watch the last five minutes, because they're on before house (hugh laurie with an american accent is weird, but you can't tell. once my dad figured out what the disease was before them.) and so always see those clip things. the bald, fat guy with the piggy eyes get voted off, but everyone seems to think he's amazing. i used to watch the first few episodes, but then realized how stupid it had gotten. it wasn't even funny when people sang horribly anymore. and then whenever simon says anything "mean" (aka intelligent), paula hits him.
