My father was telling me the other day about his friend that he has worked with for the last 20 or so years.

His name is Kurt.

Kurt had a job at Dow, bringing home about $75,000 a year.  I've met him several times, and i know he's a good guy.

agreed. I just feel really fucking bad for him. But i mean this is just one story. There are millions of people that this kind of shit is happening to every day. These times are maddening.

I understand and agree that his kid is not seeing the important things, and it is terrible. I must add though that I also knew a "Kurt" at Dow, similar situation with a deer camp incident. He got popped in a random, and since he was in the union his job was protected. He had to submit to more frequent screening and also a drug program, but all that aside would have been ok long term. Knowing he was going to be tested, he wound up getting popped again, and then he was out of a job. Bottom line is that the stories you are told and the reality of the situation are not always the same. His indescriminant one time deer camp story was not true, and he through away a very good career by not facing the problem he had. His wife and two kids now have to deal with his decisions.

I don't mean to be combative, but i feel that you are missing the bottom line, which is that employers are intruding on their employee's private lives further and further beyond what ought to be their right to ( ... )
