Haven't Had a Dream in a Long Time...

It's 6:09 AM and I'm writing. I have class at 11. I wonder what it's like to sleep. Having been trying to sleep since about 4, I'm really a little frustrated. Besides that, my academic world is crashing down around my head. I have two passions that override all others: Jazz and Math. I was ok with jazz being a challenge for me. I have the same problem all the time. I can barely understand my calc homework and I routinely leave a question unanswered on my analysis homework. It's hell on the sense of identity, but you can't be perfect. Sometimes it happens that you don't understand something right away, or within what seems like a decent amount of time, and it's okay. Don't give up on yourself just yet.

The other thing is that most people have trouble with Proofs, and Brandeis is a school full of people who are really intelligent. It probably doesn't help, but you're not alone in this.

TAKE ANOTHER ENGLISH CLASS!?!?!?!? If I do that I will surrender my last shred of sanity. I would rather wake up every morning to the sound of nails on a chalkboard and go to sleep every night with my body suspended upside down. BUt seriously, other than that, thanks for the perspective.

Hickey, I think Kate is right. Take another English class. The worst it can do is prove to you how much you love math. I, for one, am taking a seminar devoted to the works of D.H. Lawrence and James Joyce next semester.

p.s. since when are you still sane? I don't buy that argument for one second

Perhaps a poetry class would make everything better. ;-)

Stick it out with the math. There is always one class that will try to beat you to the curb. It's crummy, but I agree with Kate - you'll get it.
