Why I am voting for Ralph Nader.

For the most part, I don't do this. I've always had a lot of political views, but I've never really gotten into elections - mainly because I wasn't old enough to vote in any of the previous elections, and so I felt that it didn't make a difference ( Read more... )

The whole notion of a vote for Obama is a vote to fix everything is going to be a rude awakening for a lot of people if he's elected. The whole energy thing is complicated, it's going to take doing many things to end the imports (natural gas, wind, nuclear, solar, hybrid technology) and not just stop drilling. But I'd also like to see an accelerated approach to fixing the problem (meaning let's do something now).

Most businesses and institutions honor civil unions, I'd like to see that expanded also. I think it goes a long way to protecting people. I don't know why this is such a road block.

And as far as the war goes, we don't need to be paying for it anymore since we can no longer afford it. Time for them to fix their own problems.

Exactly. The issue of energy is a complicated one; no single person can fix it. But Nader seems to be the most intent on speeding up the process; unlike other candidates, he doesn't throw this issue on the back burner. He wants to start now.

I also agree with you on the war. We've spent far too much money on Iraq. We destroyed their country, and now we're paying to put them back on their feet. But they've established a government that suits their needs, and we have no more reason to be there! It's about time we sat on the sidelines and let the Iraqi people decide what's best for Iraq.
