Private, relatively hackable
I had this idea. But...it's revolting. It makes me sick and I honestly hate thinking about it.
Yet it seems to be one of the only things worth thinking about as I go to bed every night. It runs through my head as I stare up at the ceiling, wondering if there's anything that I can do for this world. I believe it was my younger sister who triggered it first in one of her letters; she was describing how a man who murdered a family of four was found "not guilty" on the count of "psychotic behavior" and how unfair it was to the family's relatives and friends. There were tear stains on the paper, too. She must have been deeply affected by the verdict...
It made me realize that with the criminal justice system we have today, the mission of passing justice hardly seems to pull through at all. It's...saddening, almost. People don't believe in the law anymore, criticizing it for the verdicts wrongly passed and the lack of actual, existing, tangible justice.
What if...what if there was an easy way to eliminate all the criminals in the world all at once?
At first I thought of it as an email inbox: organize everyone into two folders, Criminals and Non-Criminals, then simply "Select All" and delete the Criminals folder. But that ridiculous thought poses obvious problems, so I had another idea:
A notebook.
It would be so uncomplicated and effortless if one could just write down a criminal's name to execute them. They could die of a simple heart attack, which is a legitimate natural cause of death, that way the law couldn't be persecuted for being "inhumane." Or just not reveal the man behind the curtain to the public, let them believe that it's the divine will of God.
But there's the issue of people with same names; the writer would have to picture the person's face in their head as they wrote the name, that way other people with the same name wouldn't be affected. A new world could be created! One where there are no criminals, where justice reigns, where people wouldn't hurt each other, where there is an actual sign that a God exists! If I had the power...if I had the chance I would--
...What am I saying?! Killing people is wrong, no matter what the cause and/or reasoning behind it is!! It'd be murder! Sheer, cold-blooded murder! There is no justice in taking the lives of hundreds, thousands, maybe even millions! It would be a massacre! An extermination!
But...it would be a new world...it would be a happy, peaceful world where Good existed over Evil. It would be a blessin--
No. It wouldn't. The slaughter of a massive scale of human beings would not be a blessing. Divine retribution can decide that when or if it comes.
What scares me most is that I want to be the one writing the names.
