Aka, when I get too ambitious with cookies. I tried turning two different icebox cookie doughs into drop cookies, one which turned out fantastically, and the other which would not cooperate - wayyyyyy too dry (I think my butter melted on me). The ingredients sound slightly different, but the procedure is the same as peanut blossoms. Have you ever had those? They're one of my Christmas cookie staples.

also, I substitute red and green sugar for regular sugar in the shallow bowl. It makes them that much more festive I think.

I ~love~ peanut butter blossoms, which is where I got the idea. I'm a purist though, I love the classic white cookie look.

The white coookie is what I had for about 30 years. Then a couple years ago I started adding in the red and green with the white.
