Yeah but

Full of the ouch & but I don't want to talk about that. What is more interesting? (I wish I could make the rest of this entry sparkle & lift the hair gently off the back of your neck like a cool breeze on a hot day.)

Today is this year's first Friday Madison/Madrona farmer's market just 3 blocks from my house. The local farmer's markets in Seattle ( Read more... )

Puppy and I were at the market for a short while around six tonight. We looked for you, but didn't see you. Maybe next week we should coordinate. Pibble kisses are an analgesic, dontcha know...

PIbble kisses! i_maenad May 16 2009, 14:15:42 UTC
Yeah, we should try to meet up at next week's market.

We weren't there long. Blue is trying to wean off the pain meds so she wasn't feeling very chipper. I'm still recuperating from the infection & extraction. Neither of us was really in any shape to be able to eat the wares, but it was still nice to mingle in the warm sun with the neighbors & look at the shiny radishes. Blue sang along with the accordion player, of course. :o)

I hope you're both feeling much improved next week.

Although if Blue sang along with the accordion player, I'd say she's doing pretty well, all things considered.

Meanwhile you will have to settle for Maggie kisses, I guess.

Try Vitamin C and Arnica? pendraw May 16 2009, 13:58:00 UTC
My therapist told me a story of his old 15 year old poodle who was failing. They found out his teeth were impacted. After they extracted all his teeth and fitted him with dentures. He acted like a puppy again and he lived many more puppy years.

Just kidding about the doggy dentures. I just added that detail in.

I did get a stern talking to about the dire consequences of that abscess, which had already spread halfway across my jaw. Yeah, yeah, I know.

So now I will submit to the tender mercies of the dental industry. Within boundaries.

This dentist, bless her heart, spent a bunch of time quizzing me about what exactly I will allow & took detailed notes about what I will not allow (i.e., most of the drugs they're anxious to dose me with). She was very willing to describe everything she was doing both before & while she was doing it - a requirement of mine that most docs are not especially comfortable with.

Hang Upside Down pendraw May 16 2009, 15:42:45 UTC
There was this pre-historic man excavated and they found he died of a toothache. Poor Baby that might have been your fate! On your tombstone, Blue would have to write. Hated Dentist. The American Dentist Journey would document your story. And yes, you would finally get fame.

Shocking! Half your jaw! Is that a side effect of Lupus? I would think it would take a while to heal. People tell me that after an extraction you can still get food stuck in the hole. Does the abscess still has to drain? Puppy-hood will still take some time to come.

Abscess all gone. Taking antibiotics to chase away the rest of the infection.

Dentist gave me the tooth she extracted. It had some of the abscess still attached. (fascinating! it was fleshlike.) (sorry if TMI) Dentist asked if I wanted her to leave the abscess attached. I said, no thanks, just the tooth will be fine.

Don't be sad. It now lies in the display case in its own tiny plastic coffin, upon which I have carefully lettered R.I.P. #18. It is fondly remembered.

(Someone who doesn't know me as well as you do would probably assume I am kidding about the plastic coffin & the lettering.)
