I'm a rock. Nothing changes me to become what I shouldn't be. Despite "hanging" with people who think totally different, I still have my core beliefs that haven't changed since I stopped "hanging" with the "Christian crowd".

There's a quote in Spanish that says "Dime con quién andas, y te diré quién eres." (Tell me with who you walk, and I'll tell you who you are.)

I'm not sure that it really works all the time, as I'm still the same Richard you knew two years ago, but not so quiet.

That's wonderful, but remember who you you're hanging out with too. :) I'm referencing something different. I understand what you're trying to say though, but that's because I know you...if that makes any sense, lol.
