Road Trip...

Yesterday I made the 8+ hour interstate trek up to Traverse City to visit my folks. The already tiresome journey was made even more exhausting by a 3:00 A.M. Steak and Shake run the night before and by the absence of a CD player in my car. I had pretty much used up every cassette I had in my car, so I was forced to look to the radio for musical ( Read more... )

Those are also the Top 5 videos on Vh1 and MTV at approximately 4:00 am (the only time either station actually plays videos now) and I seem to come accross them every night while channel surfing. I suggest you look for a classic rock station- every midwestern town has one- so at least if you're listening to the same old stuff, it's stuff worth listening to.

If Fleetwood Mac's "Magic Man" is in VH1's Top 5 videos, then I'm Walter Cronkite. I did listen to classic rock on the way up, but those stations have a slightly larger playlist...I'd guesstimate around a 100-song loop as opposed to a Top 40 list, so I heard a large number of songs 2 or 3 time on the way up...Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love, The Doors' "Roadhouse Blues", "Eleanor Rigby", etc...

trying to imagine a drew/walter cronkite hybrid...oh dear.

treverse city is way cool! i've been up there a few times. i love the beach on the lake, and there's this independent record store run by a lady who gives me discounts. i've never managed to make it there for the film festival, but have heard about it. have fun!

Yeah, the awesome independent record store, "New Moon Records", which I also used to frequent when in T.C., has been replaced by a FUCKING COLD STONE CREAMERY. My love/hate relionship with the chain-stores of corporate america has reached an all time high. I fear I might have to orchestrate a large-scale covert attack on Cold Stone. Their days of selling ridiculously overpriced ice-cream with gummy bears in it are OVER!
