first of all, finally someone else who liked the Prde and Prejudice movie. second of all, i would switch sin city and batman begins. as someone who has read both in comic form, I think batman translated better onto film, and over-came a franchise that went into a long slump after nipples were added to the batsuit.
I can accept that. I think I put Batman Begins lower on the list simply because the 2nd time I saw it in theatres was at the IMAX in Springdale, which made me pay an extra $3.50 to see the movie on a screen so big that it made my eyes rattle and give me a wicked headache.
Really...Terrence Howard was so good it hurts. Not to mention the music itself was surprising well done. The movie as a whole might not compare to most of the others on the list, but Terrence Howard's individual performance was enough to put it on my list.
Aw, I totally always make lists like this. But I have a couple issues: what about A History of Violence? And Jarhead? And CRASH? I know it got mixed reviews, but I loved that movie.
The reason they're not on my list is due to the fact that I simply haven't seen them. I don't have the luxury of Senor Ebert and his kind to see every movie out there, but hopefully I'll catch those 3 on DVD.
Oh Drew, I think you'll definitely enjoy all of those movies. They're vying for my top spot right now - sentimentally, Crash is my favorite, but all three really moved me and were just really fucking good. I still have a lot of movies left to see though!
i'm ashamed i haven't seen 4/10 of these (my summer of love, hustle & flow, melinda & melinda, and cinderella man), but i'm pretty willing to agree with you on most of the others you've got up. batman begins actually, literally, put me to sleep, but i'll admit that i'm a true spiderman girl, so that's unsurprising.
I saw Zelig last night and it was kind of a let down. It was an ambitious as a mockumentary, but not nearly funny enough. Far too much documentary, not enough mocking. I guess I'm just spoiled by all of Christopher Guest's movies. The costuming and art direction were good though.
