Nana/Strawberry Panic!

Hey, Nana... how come realizing a dream and being happy are such different things? I still don't understand...

:(((

I'm liking this series, but have only managed to read up to volume six. (YSI is my nemesis, seriously; it took me more than ten tries to actually get volume six downloaded, and by the time I went for volumes 7+, the links had all ( Read more... )

life, nana

It is fascinating how the two of us always manage to ends up at the same series yet liking (or hating) it for completely different (yet similar) reasons. This is in relation to Nana, I shall not say anthing more until you finish reading volume 10.

Just know that despite your faults I still adore you ;P

I think over pretty much the same thing, too. :D I am so predictable; Hachi is close to being Cameron, but few years younger and very slightly less screwed up on the relationship front. Maybe if it weren't for this type of girl & Sasuke's type of boy, we'd agree. ;)

I'm not sure when I'll get that far in the manga, though! I'm going to have to go down to Empire Toys sometime to see how far Viz has got. Meanwhile, I'll try not to spoil myself too much.

:/ I'm pretty sure that's as far as it had got last time I looked, months ago, and I'd already read past there in the monthly shoujo compilation book. It looks like they're up to v12 in France, though, which is promising if I can manage to order from overseas.

I've read some of Paradise Kiss, and am watching the anime; aside from that, nothing! The art kind of weirded me out at first, since it looks like One Piece and Saiyuki had a very shoujo baby series, but I'm well used to it now. :D

I was almost wishing for Nana/Yasu/Hachi when the Takuma-Hachi-Nobu triangle came up; they're both fine guys, but do they really deserve Hachi (in either sense)?

I love Nana so much-- the characters are all over-the-top, but belieavable.

And why have I not heard of "Strawberry Panic!"? This season's crop is better than I expected!

That's what makes the best fiction, really. Too much or too little realism sucks all the fun out of things.

I usually seem to find one or two series I go weak-kneed for. This season, not so much yet, but some of them definitely look fun. I'm a big fan of cross-dressing and "elite schools" and pushy lesbians, :D. (If you want the manga for Strawberry Panic!, the scanlation team is here.)

If YSI doesn't work for you, do you know of a site that does? Oooorr maybe, if you've got some instant messenging program or another, we could try to work out a way to transfer the files through that? (though no guarantees on that, my computer is so dumb and finicky about IM file transfers) *wants you to read more Nana!*

I dooooo like Hachi. Logically, I shouldn't like her, since she keeps doing dumb things that ought to piss me off, but oh man, I do like her. I totally feel for her. :(

(But Nana O is still hotter. XD)

Sendspace & megaupload seem to work somewhat better. YSI works fine--until I try to upload something myself, or until the file goes over ~8MB. Is YSI the only one you don't find to be a pain to use?

Yeah. It's so weird. I can see why a lot of people don't like that sort of character very much--she's soppy and stereotypically girly, and if she's logical at all, it's emotional logic--but somehow I really do love that about her. I never sympathise with characters as much as I do with characters like Hachi; they're so open with their emotions and desires (at least to themselves, but usually with others too), and it embarrasses me for them but also draws me in. Well, if there's something in the character that I admire or think is genuinely sweet or touching, at least.

(:D! Nobu is so out of place in the massively hot band that is Blast v2.)

! I think that's it, is that on some level, Hachi inspires admiration in me, that the generic stereotypically girly shoujo lead doesn't. She does dumb and selfish things but only after thoroughly thinking it through and trying to make the best decision - both for herself and for others. And obviously, she doesn't always make the best decisions (hah), and she screws things up a lot, but I really love her sincerity. And how damned loyal she is to other-Nana. T__T

(And yeah, poor darling Nobu. I think he's really cute, at least, though!

Speaking of which, why isn't everyone in the series all over Yasu? I love that guy; he's the only responsible one of them. XD)

I'm going to head to school to wrap up some final projects / whatever but when I get back tomorrow, I'll upload the rest of Nana on sendspace for you! Until then, maybe you can try free_manga? I think there's some Nana archived there in the tags. :D :D :D
