Just Lost Touch
I don’t know.
No way, no how, there was something fishy about this.
Oh, I don’t know.
That couldn’t be Stan; Stan would never say something so terrible.
You guys stayed away from drugs, so you’re okay…
Not even pot could be this serious; not even drugs could rip them apart…
(I just lost touch with you.)
Something so terrible couldn’t even be true to begin with.
Right?
Blue eyes were hollow above the scruff-surrounded mouth that so casually blew him off: Oh, I don’t know how you made out. I just… lost touch with you.
Standing at the mirror where he’d been staring at himself and trying to imagine twenty years added onto his face, Kyle pushed a stupid tear away from his cheek and the stupid thoughts out of his head. How dumb could he be to believe that some idiot stoner was actually Stan from the future, that he had actually come back through some temporal vortex, and, at that, from a time when Stan Marsh and Kyle Broflovski weren’t joined at the hip?
(Or was it just being dumb to think that anything lasted forever?)
I decided to take this prompt literally. If you will remember, there is lightning in the beginning of this episode. That’s why it may seem like the prompt isn’t really anywhere to be found in the story itself.
