Like all things the 'magic' of this island is most likely following the island's rules or the whims of whatever force controlling the island.
I would advise against such foolish actions in the future. You will find penalties exist for those who have.. destructive tendencies.
.. And what on earth do you mean 'your spine should be intact?' Who are you talking to?

I prefer to look at it as...experimentation. It's a learning experience. Besides, when I hear about magic...hmm. Nevermind.
I had some...help with the experiment. The machine fell on him. Guy about my height, tall spiky blond hair, and a crimson coat.
He can handle it, though.

I've never heard of magic that would make hundreds of people appear on an island without all their memories.
