“Uh…hello.” Was all that came to Arizona’s mind. This had totally thrown her off her swing. This woman was leering unashamedly at her. It was uncomfortable and unsettling. Where was Callie?
“Hey, I saw you and your ‘friend’ out there. Seemed she wasn’t giving you the attention you needed.” This woman was creepy. Where the hell is Callie?! As if answering her mental screaming the woman smirked “Yeah, so my coach is out there keeping her busy with some advice on her technique, while I thought I’d come and introduce myself.” As she spoke she stepped forwards in an almost predatory motion. Arizona hated this sort, the ones that think that just because you are gay you are interested in everyone else that is. That was simply not true. The woman was only paces away now and unlike Callie, her sweaty form was in no way appealing. Arizona wanted to get changed and get out, but this woman wasn’t going to get that show. “I’m Ellie by the way, you are?”
“Not interested.”
“That’s not nice, I was just trying to talk to you.
This was going like all those scenes in bad movies with the pervy stalker who won’t take get lost creep for an answer. She was leaning against Arizona’s locker now. She reeked of exercise and it made Arizona’s nose burn. Then her hand was on Arizona’s shoulder. “Please, take your hand off me”
“You heard her, take your hand off her.” It was like hearing an angel calling. Hell, she was an angel. Callie’s face was furious, it scared Arizona a little, but also gave her that twinge that screamed Oh my god I could so fall in love with you! The creep named Ellie turned slowly and smirked. Her smirk turned into a scream as Callie’s fist collided with her right eye. Words were used that Arizona would never hear on the Peds ward as Ellie staggered to right herself. All hell broke loose as Arizona staggered back to the shower area, out of the way. It wasn’t boxing so much as brawling as the two women threw punch after punch. Ellie missed Callie with most of her lunges, her perspective off with the one swollen eye. But Callie was on target with nearly all her swings. Arizona couldn’t help but feel pride mixed in with her fear for Callie’s safety. Ellie was bleeding from her forehead and eye. Callie appeared to have a split lip. With one almighty heave, Callie threw Ellie into the lockers. She slid to the floor unconscious. Arizona laughed softly as Callie checked for any skull fractures and that the knock out wouldn’t be permanent, then closed her eyes and straightened up. Breathing heavily and swaying slightly she turned to Arizona.
She almost ran across the room to her, but Arizona walked as calmly as she could manage under the circumstances. “My hero.” She whispered softly as she took Callie’s hand and led her to the showers. Callie seemed to be fine, although a little dazed. Taking one of the towels, Arizona dampened it under the water and began to dab Callie’s lip with it. She felt terrible when Callie would wince, but it had to be done. Other than the split lip and a little bruising around her eye, Callie seemed fine. Her hands needed some cleaning up as her knuckles where bloodied, but she began to seem almost jubilant.
Arizona looked down at her as she sat on the bench, looking very proud of herself. “Calliope, you know you didn’t need to do that right? Though I have to say… Wow!” Callie just continued to look pleased with herself. Arizona laughed gently and decided now would be a good time… “Well I think I should at least say thank you for you saving me from that creep.” Callie snapped out of her joy coma just long enough to feel Arizona straddle her lap, wrap her arms around Callie’s neck and begin a slow, soft and lingering kiss that would send her right back into that coma. Her lip hurt like all hell, but it was worth it.
All Arizona could think was that while it may not have been the most conventional of dates, it was definitely the best. Definitely.
