Callie turned on her heels and simultaneously took out her phone. Hitting Arizona’s number on speed dial she waited for Arizona to pick up. It went straight to voicemail. Panic was flooding through Callie’s veins like adrenalin. Arizona never turned off her phone, it was her lifeline to the hospital and why would she tell Callie she was at work, if she clearly wasn’t. Callie punched the elevator button repeatedly. She was going to speak to maintenance about speeding these things up. Screw it, she would take the stairs. Heading to the door, she began a high speed descent of the stairs leaping some of them. On the first floor she crashed through the door and headed to the stairs for the lobby, she hadn’t counted on a Bailey shaped obstacle blocking her path.

“Y’know Torres, I’m a tolerant person. No, I really am’” Callie didn’t have time for this, she needed to find Arizona but Bailey was a formidable woman that when she spoke, you had to listen. Or risk losing a digit. “Tolerant, that’s me. But y’know what pushes my buttons to the point of snappin’? Drama. I get enough on Daytime soaps. That’s fine with me. But here I am tryin’ to save some lives and I have interns, residents and attending bringing their drama’s into my hospital.” Bailey’s slip that it was her hospital gave Callie an insight into Bailey’s ambition, but right now it just wasn’t important. “So when I have my new mentor beat me down for information on a certain other blonde attending that she saw you with, I take offence.”

“She saw Erica?!”

“No Torres she was ready to chew my throat off over Dr Bob in gynecology. What the hell do you think?!” Callie’s mind was in overdrive, this was bad. Arizona saw Erica, she must have thought… Oh god this is bad. “No you sort your love life out, away from this hospital. Is that clear? Now, if you will excuse me I have a Days of our lives rerun to catch up on in the lounge.” Only Bailey could get away with a sentence like that. As she walked away, Callie was rooted to the spot.

Erica didn’t do anything that would be construed as bad… Other than touch her shoulder. But Arizona wouldn’t freak out over that? Or would she.
Arizona still expected Callie to be unsteady, despite all the ways Callie tried to prove otherwise. She had to find her and explain, that was all that mattered now. She needed to explain. This day was just getting worse and worse. But she would make it better. She had to, or she could lose someone who meant more to her than she could explain. Callie was ready to settle down, to do it right and the sheer blind panic she felt now that Arizona was freaking out made it clear to her that Arizona was the one she wanted to settle down with.

Callie began to make a mental list of all the possible places that Arizona would go to hide. It was unlikely she would go home as that would be the first place she would expect Callie to look for her. Except she didn’t know Callie was looking for her, she thought Callie would be out with Erica. Ok, that would be the first place Callie would check. Next she would head over to Joe’s. Then the gym. After those three she would just comb the city until she found her.

The home stop was a bust. Callie knew it almost immediately. The lights were off, and Arizona’s car wasn’t in the drive. Joe’s proved just as futile. Mark and Lexie tried to waylay her with the promise of great company and free drinks, but it wasn’t enough. Other than that, they had no useful information, Lexie had seen Arizona looking upset, but she had been heading into a surgery with Mark, so hadn’t stopped to see what was wrong. The gym was a waste of time too.

Now it was just random searches that Callie would have to make, hopefully she knew enough about Arizona to narrow the search. After stops at the grocery store, movies and Toys R Us, Callie was still drawing a blank. She was in the docklands now, near to the Boxing Club they had been to on the first date of her making. Maybe it was fate or random chance, but she glanced into the carpark.

Arizona’s car sat by the front door. Why would she be here. After that first time, Arizona hadn’t been back here. Callie went alone or Arizona watched as an observer due to Arizona finding boxing to be too violent for her tastes. Callie pulled her car up beside Arizona’s, not even bothering to cut the engine. She didn’t have to look far inside to spot Arizona. She was letting loose on one of the wall mounted punching bags. There was no technique to her swings, it looked as if she were just letting out pure anger. Her face was streaked with tears, it made Callie’s heart break to see her hurting so much. But it gave her hope. If Arizona had so much negative emotion over seeing Erica with Callie, she must really care about Callie.  Callie needed to approach this with caution. With so much raw emotion pouring from Arizona right now, it could all blow up in her face.
