We finally had an insurance adjuster show up this past Monday. She came through our (formerly beautiful) basement and measured, took notes, asked questions, etc., and then she went out to her car and wrote up a partial estimate. (
More behind the cut... )

That's lousy the insurance won't cover it all. It's good your thinking of treating it as a chance to totally make it over and try to keep costs down but I'm worried about your breathing all that dust and muck and mold in.
Take care of yourself sweetie. Gotta go to bed now ...
Early start for college tomorrow.

That's right, try to look at it as an opportunity. I know it's hard to deal with shit like this, but just know you've got a lot of people who care about you and would hate to see you unhappy.

Oh, your poor thing.
It's bad enough that the insurance won't cover it all - but with you suffering so badly too, it just makes it worse.

I do hope that the long, hard road won't be quite a long or hard and that when it's all done you'll be happy with it. I'm sure the restoration people will do a good job. Changing to a new colour scheme actually sounds like a really good idea, a fresh start so to speak.
