Today we got to watch some videos in iaijutsu.
The first video was of Tsumaki Sensei performing Omote No Maki. It was filmed 30 years ago which would have put Tsumaki Sensei's age at about 70. I had only seen videos of him performing kata in his 90's, so it was interesting to watch his technique when he was a (relatively) younger man.It was also

Where was the video taken (don't say this year's Arnold, or I'll be sad, since I skipped it ;-))?

If you are talking about the video I posted here, I found it in YouTube by typing in "Kuroda Sensei."
If you are wondering where the video I saw in class was taken, I can ask Sensei. I am positive that the video wasn't filmed recently though.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. He's pretty darn impressive isn't he?
It appears that he comes to the states yearly for seminars, rotating across the three dojos in the states (San Antonio, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; Encinitas, CA). I would like to attend one of those seminars.

Every year, until this one oddly enough, we have gone to the Arnold for our weapons sparring (padded weapons) competition...this year though they changed the days on us twice, and then they added Tameshigiri, but it was on Sunday and we all have to work, and it's a 12 hour drive back. So we decided not to pay the $140 bucks at the door + hotel + food + driving for 12 hours each way... all in all, I think it was the right choice at the time, but it's a shame that we didn't go this year.
Though in retrospect (read: did our taxes the weekend before going anyway), I didn't have the money to go regardless...
If you ever do go to one of the seminars, be sure to take lots of pics!

His movements are amazing, and something I've kept in mind while I've been learning how to move.

The kanji pulled up some interesting vidoes though - thanks!
He makes knee walking (and everything else) look effortless.
Something to aspire to and emulate but do we have any chance of even coming close? It appears that he has been training since he could walk :)
