The only times I have ever been hurt in martial arts practice (with one exception) was when I was working with beginners.

I totally understand this. We have now 3 new students in our Gungfu class, one of which is a gangly 18 year old with 0 muscle (really, it's kinda scary), a 16 year old who's more focused than most 18 year olds and a 40-something who just moved back to the area (was a judoka for a few years). It's so dangerous for me to work with them on their sweeps, mostly because I have no idea what they're going to do next!

Oh, and I shouldn't forget that I'm assisting my shihshou with teaching "Advanced Self Defense", at Wells College...I've stopped counting the number of random bruises that I'm getting - just too depressing!
